June 2007

To: All Intercessors
From: The Rev. Alan W. Hansen
Subject: June Intercessions

Beloved, it has been over a month since I last wrote and much has transpired that needs your prayers. We have things to celebrate and things we must go to war against in the spiritual realm.

Let me begin by thanking you for your faithful intercessions for me and ACTS 29. The climate in our denomination is increasingly conflicted and all of us are feeling the tensions at some level. We covet your prayers of encouragement, protection and support; again THANK YOU.

Praise Reports

Golf Tournament – This years fund raising was our best ever. The weather was great (no rain, sunny and mild) and we were blessed with numerous sponsors from all over the country. Praise the Lord.

Calendar of Events – The 2007 calendar is now completely full (see below) and this is a praise. We have events scheduled every month and many in new places with new friends. We are already booking events for 2008 and the interest in ACTS 29 continues to be encouraging.

YouthQuake Planning Session for 2008 – Last month I asked you to pray about this meeting. It went very well and we are off and running for YQ 08. Our theme is TRUTH (John 8:32). I received many suggestions and believe we have a fantastic line-up for next year’s event.

YouthQuake Southwest, FL, 2008 – I met in Sarasota, FL with a steering committee dedicated to discussions on expanding YQ to SW Florida in November of 2008. We have a great deal of interest and the committee has welcomed the initial plan and will be presenting it to their new bishop, Dabney Smith later this summer. It looks like the door will open for this event.

Prayer Requests

Funding – This continues to be a major concern for all of us in the “Para church” world. We have seen a modest increase in pledges this year, however, the donor base is not as strong as it once was. Please simply pray that the Lord will provide abundantly for all our needs according to Philippians 4:17. We need many more donors willing to make a modest monthly gift of support.

Major Donors and Grants – We are currently being considered for a Grant through a foundation in South Georgia. Please pray for favor with those making the decision and for them to be generous. We are also seeking the Lord to raise up a new generation of major donors to support ACTS 29 with annual gifts.

Expanding Yes, These Bones Can Live – We would like the Lord to open the door to continue this initiative in a number of places across the country and abroad. We are in contact with several people and pray we can expand this incredible ministry in 2008. There is a sizeable time commitment and cost, however, the fruit is significant and the potential huge for truly transitioning small and declining congregations. Pray for this to happen. Specifically, we need at least 10 to 20 congregations to make this commitment in each location for the ministry to be viable.

Crying Out to God Conference in August – I am asking that you intensify your prayers for this conference. It is the third gathering for Yes, These Bones Can Live in the Diocese of Springfield, IL and I believe it is the most powerful. We will be addressing the role of fasting and intercessory prayer, as well as spiritual warfare as a divine strategy to renew the church. There will be much resistance because the content is so powerful in the heavenly realm.

Protection, Health and Finances – As you know I travel a great deal. I don’t always eat right, sleep right or exercise properly. Please pray for my overall protection, health and spiritual well being. This includes my marriage, my home, my children and of course my finances. Recently we have had a rash of setback demanding large sums of money (auto repairs, home repairs, medical expenses, etc.). I also ask that you pray for the Acts 29 staff, Kay Teague, Ann Nelson, Teresa Hansen, and Sandy Defoe.

Building Update – Although the Lord has not yet sold our building (we own it in partnership with another person) we continue to ask Him about relocating the office to a more convenient part of town. That means we need someone to take our lease so we can move. Pray the Lord will provide for us a way to move. On the upside, our building is fully leased and the income is now positive.

New Website – We are currently having our Website redone. The initial phases look really good and we are excited about having this completed. Please pray for this to go smoothly. Hopefully you can visit the new site at www.a29.com by the end of June. The old one is still up. Check it out the first of July.
