Scripture makes it clear that all believers in Christ are given ministry gifts by the Holy Spirit. Our gifts may differ, but they are all important to the Lord and the work of ministry in the local church. This teaching addresses the purpose of gifts, how to discover your gifts and presents an overview of the various types of gifts. A parable of Jesus that you must remember is the Parable of the Talents. Three people received gifts from the master and he charged them to use them for his benefit. Upon evaluation one person failed to use the gift the master gave -- he buried it and simply gave it back. This person was severely chastised by our Lord. He was called wicked and lazy. The point is that we are to use the gift God has given us for His glory. No PEW POTATOES!
