Course Description
When we read through the Book of ACTS and the history of the early church, we find a dynamic, growing and Spirit-filled church. This was a church with such a passion for Christ that one notable hallmark is persecution and martyrdom for the faith. Also evident to any study of this era is a power and manifestation of the Holy Spirit in healing, evangelism, deliverance and life transformation.
For many of us, reading about such power and glory is not enough. There is a longing to reclaim this vitality, power and witness for our day and truly be "light" shining brightly against the darkness. Congregational Revitalization will look at practical ways to "revitalize" your congregation with a specific emphasis on "Pentecost" and the power of the Holy Spirit.
The Purpose of the Course
The teachings are designed to be practical and easily adaptable to a broad range of church settings. Regardless of whether you are in a small rural mission or a thriving "corporate size" parish, the basic principle we will discuss will apply. The primary purpose is to offer you "skill- based" teachings or "how-tos" when it comes to evangelism, discipleship, healing the sick, and dealing with the demonic or unseen realm. Toward that end we will include a number of practicums that are connected to the teachings. We all know how much more we learn by "doing" instead of just listening in the classroom. Ultimately, we want you to take home to your parish that which brings life, power and revitalization to your people and beyond. The ultimate purpose is expanding the kingdom of God and community transformation.
Intended Outcomes
Our goal is to "equip" you for the "work" of ministry, not just impart information about ministry. We hope to introduce you to proven strategies and practices that have successfully transitioned congregations from plateaued or decline into centers of life-giving Christianity. We also believe this course offers a time of personal renewal and encouragement so desperately needed for all of us in pastoral ministry.
